Monica Rebmann (LMT, CPT)
Monica’s interest in Massage Therapy began at ten years old; her mom had been suffering from migraines and began receiving massage and chiropractic treatments. Eager to participate in this process, Monica readily administered shoulder squeezes and made sure her mom did the prescribed self-care. In 2012 she earned an Associate’s Degree in Massage Therapy from Morrisville State College. Throughout her practice, Monica has honed her skills, learned new techniques, and gathered a loyal client base.
While a great massage offers relief by bringing ease to the body and relaxing tissues that are constantly under stress, these effects are short-term because the underlying dysfunction is often caused by well-ingrained postural and movement patterns. Monica experienced this herself as she became overworked by the physical demand of her job; she first turned to yoga for burnout, then sought personal training to further support her massage career. To help her clients (and herself) address common musculoskeletal issues Monica earned several certifications in Personal Training (Corrective Exercise, Functional Aging and Trauma-Informed PT), but was turned off by the culture of traditional gyms.
In 2021 Monica had the opportunity to apprentice under her good friend and experienced trainer, Rosie Olney. Monica started applying what she had learned in the gym; the results were newfound confidence, strength and mobility, and her work as a massage therapist felt less physically taxing! Within a year, Monica and Rosie started Cascade Lifestyle as a virtual personal training program. Now, as her business partner pursues her firefighting career, Monica is carrying on the Cascade Lifestyle torch and combining her two specialties under one roof.
Thanks to regular resistance training and lifestyle adjustments, Monica has been able to better support her massage career and a higher level of physical activity. She enjoys climbing at the local rock gym, camping with friends, and going anywhere she can bring her dog. One day she hopes to be able to keep up with her husband on their bike rides; he is the Operations Manager for Reddy Bikeshare in Buffalo and Niagara Falls.
